| St. Vincent De Paul Society

The Norlane (St Thomas & St John) conference exercises its pastoral care mainly by way of house visitation to assist people in crises. Food vouchers, clothing and furniture may be provided and all requests for assistance should be made by phoning the South Geelong Store on ph 5221 9170.
The Society also provides an opportunity shop in Norlane at Labuan Square in Forster Street, where good second-hand clothing and household items may be purchased at cheap prices. Parishioners staff this store, and of course many more volunteers are needed.

| Communion to the Sick and House Bound
|
|
Every week our Eucharistic ministers together with the Sisters of Mercy and the parish priest visit the sick and the elderly people in our parish and take to them Holy Communion. Very often this ministry provides a contact with the Church which older people may have missed. We rely on family and neighbours to put us in contact with people who may appreciate and benefit from this ministry. You may contact the Parish Office or one of the parish team.

Each year a scholarship is being offered for one year to a boy or girl wishing to attend St Thomas Aquinas Primary School, and another is being offered to a boy or girl wishing to attend a Catholic High school or college.
Requirements for qualification are that one has to be a practising catholic attending Sunday Mass and involved in the life of the Parish. Being already a pupil of St Thomas Aquinas Primary School or a Catholic High school or college will not prevent someone from applying. Details of application will be announced at Mass during the year.

| Couples for Christ
|
Couples For Christ family ministries are clearly the Lord’s work in the family and the parish. Despite the initial difficulties, they have now come to full bloom. It would be difficult now to imagine the work of the C.F.C. without the ministries. What is important is that what we are and already have is able to touch and transform the lives of other members of the family who are were being served directly prior to birth of the ministries. At this point in time, the value of the family ministries to the life of C.F.C. is very clear. 1) It is a strong support to the evangelization work of the c.f.c.. Many parents join the c.f.c after their children join the youth or singles for Christ. Married children or brothers or sisters of Hold members are evangelised by them. 2) The ministries, especially, Kids for Christ, Youth for Christ, Singles for Christ are the Couples For Christ bridge to the future of the family and the church. The members meet every Tuesday night at the presbytery at 6.30 for song and praise and prayers followed by something to eat and drink. They also meet for the Sunday liturgies.
The Neocatechumenate Community meets in the presbytery every Monday night at 7.00pm to study the Scripture and celebrate the Liturgy of the word. On the first Saturday of the month the community comes together to celebrate the Eucharist at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 7.30pm. Anyone interested in studying the word of the Lord and in celebrating the Eucharist in the Neocatechumenual way is very welcomed to attend.
